Surprise Cousins!

Sarah Jane (Babcock) King, Jenny from Conspicuous Gallantry, was a fourth cousin of Harrison Soule, the final commanding officer of the 6th Michigan. Both of their mothers were Blodgetts, and some genealogical detective work revealed that they both descended from Samuel Blodgett, born in Woburn, Massachusetts, in 1658. I wrote half of the 6th Michigan manuscript before I discovered this, quite by accident.

(Soule, however, does not share Jenny's descent from King Edward III or from Mayflower Pilgrims John and Priscilla Alden, mentioned in Conspicuous Gallantry on p. 9 and shown in the family tree on p. 214.)
